How are teeth prepared for veneers?
Little or no anaesthesia is needed.
Teeth are prepared for veneers by lightly buffing to allow for the small added thickness of the veneer porcelain.
Models are taken of your teeth.
The models are sent to the dental laboratory, where the veneers are fabricated.
Temporary veneers will be fabricated and placed in your mouth until your permanent veneers are ready.
While wearing the temporary veneers, advise your dentist of any adjustments or changes you would like made, such as in shape or size.
These changes will be translated into your permanent veneers, so good communication between you and Dr. Simone Landau is important in achieving your new smile.
How are Tooth Veneers Attached to your Tooth?
Your dentist will “try in” your veneers over your teeth with temporary cement that is the same color cement as will be used for the permanent attachment.
During this “try-in” phase, be sure to look at your veneers in natural light in addition to the office light.
Make sure that you are satisfied with the aesthetics.
During the insertion appointment, Dr. Simone Landau places the veneers with water or glycerin on the teeth to verify their perfect fit, shape, and their shade or color.
The color cannot be changed after the veneers are adhered to your teeth.
The tooth is then cleansed with chemicals to achieve a strong bond.
Once the glue is applied between the veneer and the tooth, a special dental light hardens the glue and fixes it permanently to the tooth.
